If it deflects a bit more, your cue ball goes more sideways and hits the top rail further from the pocket, and hits the 3rd rail further from the side. Predator REVO Shaft with White Vault Plate - 3/8 x 10 - 12. cue ball and OB are lined up with one edge of the pocket. I have tried in the past to test deflection with a shot like this. It's hard to do such a thing with perfect scientific accuracy, but if you do the same shot enough times, you can sort of feel the differences. What I might try is setting up a specific english shot with plenty of deflection and seeing if there's much difference in cue ball reaction or whether it seems like one shaft pockets the ball more reliably or the other is more forgiving of an extreme offset. But of course you're interested in what happens when you use sidespin mainly. sounds like either one will work fine in terms of making straight-ins. I just read this other reply by you so I guess you already figured out the 50 balls were not that useful of a test. What other shots/drills/tests do you think I could do that would be helpful in determining if either shaft offers my game any advantage? Yesterday shot this drill, medium speed stop shots, 50 each side with each shaft. I now use a Revo 12.4, but am testing a 12.9 trying to determine if there's a benefit in either over the other for me. I asked him why he chose the 12.9 over the 12.4 and he replied, "I make more balls". The 12.9mm I have a chance to buy is being sold by one of the top players in Mexico. REVO shafts feature the lightest front end mass, the lowest rate of rise taper, greatest radial consistency, and most durable construction. Made of carbon fiber composite, REVO shafts incorporate more than twenty years of technological innovation and testing. So I started thinking maybe a 12.9, given my less than perfect stroke, might reduce unwanted spin and I might pot more balls. However it seems to me several pros using Revos are shooting the 12.9. As an average player my main issues aren't what shaft I use. I fully realize it's the archer and not the arrow, etc.
